If you know someone who loves home gifts, or maybe you’re looking to give loves ones some ideas of what you’d love this Christmas, then we’re here to help.
As you can imagine, I get so many home gifts on my birthday and at Christmas time, and after many years, I am not tired of it.
I love gifts for the home as I feel they are really appreciated, I use or see them every day, they become part of my home and there is always room for something new.
I’ve listed below five of my top gift picks for this festive season but I assure you that these will be welcomed any time of year!
Rug
A rug can really bring a room into its own.
It can add color, make it instantly more homely and add another level of comfort. Now, if you’re buying for someone else then I suggest asking for a little guidance as we all don’t have the same taste so head on over to their house, figure out their color scheme, and decide on a size.
From Persian rugs to woolen and sheepskin, there are millions you could choose from. If you’re really unsure then why not gift then a gift card for a store that sells rugs, this will just mean you don’t have to stress that it’s the wrong size, color, shape, and everyone happy.
I love rugs and you’ll find them in every room of my house, I think they add so much to a room and especially if you have lots of wooden floors. Let me tell you there is nothing nicer than getting out of bed and putting your feet and a cozy rug!
House Plant
Bringing the outdoors in is one of the best things you can do with your house.
If you have a lot of window space, balcony doors, or a patio then you can really extenuate the greenery which will help your home to appear larger.
From house plants to lots of flowers and even growing your own herbs in the kitchen, there are plenty of options for all sizes of house.
Now, many worry about the upkeep of house plants but I assure you it’s relatively simple. Most houseplants need a good watering once a week and feeding every two weeks, for flowers, I replace the water every few days and a little tip, add a gulp of lemonade, as flowers love sugar.
When you’re buying plants for other people, it’s generally quite straightforward, all you need to know is the size.
House plants can last a lifetime and be with families for generations which is why house plants are an amazing gift, all year round.
Candles
Who doesn’t love candles?
Whether they’re for use or simply decoration, you can never go wrong with buying candles as a gift. In fact anything with an aroma will win – maybe some high quality wax burners will do the trick too! That way, all that will need topping up is the melts, and a different scent can be chosen each time.
Now, scents can vary and not everyone will agree so I would advise going for something neutral and avoid strong notes such as cinnamon, orange, or vanilla which people either love or hate.
Candles vary in terms of cost, you can pick up a nice candle for under 10, or if you’re wanting to splash out on something a little more special you can find yourself paying over 50 for a single candle. There are some great choices on websites like eBay, you might even want to use some eBay coupons (see here) so that you can afford the more higher-end choices.
Art
Buy art for some people can be very tricky, unless you know the person well, it can be hard to gauge what they’ll like and what will fit in their home.
Just like plants, art can last a lifetime and even be passed down from generation to generation.
There are many ways you can go when buying art, from pop art to oil paintings and modern pieces by independents.
Personally, I love small art which can be dotted all around the house but some will like big pieces to fill empty walls. If you’re unsure but know that art is a gift they’d love then why not buy a gift voucher and maybe go together to choose something, that way you can still be involved. You could also gift your loved ones customized photo tiles of your favorite memory together. Turn your photos into tiles and hang them on the wall as centerpieces, to make sure that you are always on their mind.
Essential Oils Diffuser
An alternative to candles and air fresheners, an essential oil diffuser is probably the best way to make your home smell delightful (in my opinion).
From small diffusers which you can hide to diffusers that are designed to become a part of the furniture, there are so many options now.
Essential oils are amazing as they produce smells that really last and fill your whole house without being overbearing. From citrus to mother nature, you can buy packs of essential oils online so your receiver can pick what smell they like.
