5 Steps to Preparing Coffee Like a Real Barista

If you’re a coffee fan, there’s no denying the exquisite taste and deliciousness that comes from a barista-brewed coffee. I mean, proper, proper coffee; the type that lights up your senses, brings full awareness to your day, and makes it feel like nothing else in the world matters. As soon as that liquid passes your lips you immediately feel a sense of happiness that can only be brought on by this particular drink, it is no wonder that coffee subscriptions are hotly sort after and coffee companies like Iron & Fire as well as a myriad of others, are being used to fulfill those needs.

Real coffee.

There’s simply nothing like, but many coffee fans will agree it’s a shame you have to venture out into the world to enjoy it, rather than in the comfort of your own home. However, this isn’t always the case. Today, we’re going to explore the five steps you need to take to enjoy coffee whenever you like.

#1 – Get the Best Coffee Beans

When you start getting really into coffee, it’s not uncommon to get blown away with just how many varieties and brands there are out there which range from all different origins, tastes, processes and flavors. Your first job is to find the one that’s right for you.

Do your research into coffee and coffee beans and sample a few to see which ones jump out and grab your attention. You might even want to look in your local area to see if there are any companies close to home. Get freshly roasted for the best experience!

#2 – Grinding Your Coffee Beans

The next part of the process involves grinding your beans to make sure they’re ready to make coffee. The most important thing to remember here is to get a consistent grind across all the beans; something you won’t be able

to achieve with a poor grinder.

This is because different sized beans will extract the coffee when added to water at different speeds which are going to affect the overall taste. When you’re buying coffee, it might be better to buy it pre-ground to avoid any problems.

#3 – Storing Your Coffee

There’s no denying the way you store your ground, and unground coffee beans are going to have a major effect on the overall taste and flavor. Typically, you’re going to want to seek out a cool, dry area in your home with very little moisture and that remains a consistent temperature at most hours of the day.

Don’t freeze your coffee beans because the thawing process can actually damage the beans and, therefore, the flavor. Keep them in an airtight container where you would store other dried goods.

#4 – Making the Coffee

Finally, you’ll want to think about making the coffee itself. Don’t use water from the tap (blasphemy!) but instead use filtered water which has been purified and cleansed of impurities. Also, heat the water that isn’t boiling in a device that’s free from limescale.

#5 – Get Yourself a Coffee Machine

You might be thinking to yourself that all this is a bit much, and you just want to enjoy an amazing cup of coffee at home, but not have enough time to go through all this every day, nor may you have the budget to invest.

This doesn’t matter. Instead, think about getting yourself a professional coffee machine, such as one that takes Nespresso machine pods. This way, all the hard work has been done for you, and you can focus more on starting your day right and getting on with it.

Summary

As you can see, there are a lot of different parts and processes to think about when it comes to preparing and making a barista-style cup of coffee. Most of the time, it’s going to take trial and error to get the technique down that works well for you.
