5 home transformations that go from summer to winter

Home transformations can be costly and time-consuming so when you’re making improvements you want them to work all year round. If you think your home needs a facelift, consider some of these design ideas that will look great in your home no matter the season.

  1. Bring the outside in
Adding a conservatory to your home allows you to have a space to retreat to that encompasses both home comforts and the natural world. Add texture in your conservatory to bring the two worlds together by using materials such as natural wicker, wood and terracotta. You can also add houseplants which are thought to improve your mood, purify the air, and reduce the risk of fatigue. In winter months a conservatory is a great space to relax in, allowing you to benefit from the peace of nature while in your warm home. Add under floor heating and blankets to make it the perfect cosy space.
  2. Improve your patio area
Make the most of your outside space by adding a patio with the help of experts well-versed in installing breathtaking Concrete Patios, or by making a few improvements to your existing one to ensure you have a great space to entertain all year round. Add a heater and blankets to the chairs to make it a great place to socialise even on colder nights and add fairy lights to make it more inviting and cosy in the dark. Leave these lights up all year so when it’s too cold to sit outside you aren’t neglecting your outside space but making sure it still looks pleasant even when you’re forced to retreat indoors.
  3. Embrace natural light
An alternative to adding a conservatory is adding bi-fold doors to your kitchen or living room to make the room brighter and appear bigger than it is. Open the doors up in the summer to let the sunshine in and feel less trapped inside your house in winter. You will be able to experience the outside from the comfort of the inside. Just don’t forget to invest in some good heating and air conditioning or you’ll find you regret those massive glass doors pretty quickly. By using a Home Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. – HVAC technician, your home will remain cool and refreshing in the summer, even with the doors open, and warm and cosy in the winter.
  4. Go open plan
Transform your kitchen and dining room into an open-plan space that’s perfect for entertaining year-round. By opening up these areas, your kitchen becomes more than just a practical cooking space-it evolves into a communal hub where the whole family can gather and connect. Say goodbye to being isolated in the kitchen during parties and enjoy being part of the action, whether you’re hosting a summer BBQ or celebrating Christmas Day. To complete the transformation, consider updating the flooring to unify the space and enhance its functionality. Durable options like hardwood, luxury vinyl, or engineered timber flooring not only add style but also stand up to the demands of high-traffic areas. With the right flooring choice, your open-plan kitchen and dining area will seamlessly blend style and functionality, creating a warm and inviting space for every occasion.
  5. Add simple touches
There are a lot of small additions you can make to your home when on a budget. Painting a room can give it a fresh make over and really change the atmosphere. Opting for a light colour will enhance the natural light all year round and really brighten a room in the darker months. You can also add a rug or new cushions to transform a living room, again opting for a colour scheme or pattern that will work for both summer and winter. Add paintings and photographs to bring a room alive, relive memories and embrace different cultures.
